The Songs of the Sky Series
The Songs of the Sky series is a collection of tall, narrow oil paintings of celestial landscapes.
The series was inspired by the artist’s feelings of wonder and awe while travelling from Ottawa to Halifax. The vertical orientation of the landscape in the more representational works and the vertical horizon lines in the abstract paintings are meant to instil a sense of the sublime, as if the viewer could only walk through the tall portal into the scene beyond.
